I sent a quick birthday card to a fellow musician a couple of weeks ago wishing him happy birthday.

He wrote me an e-mail this past week saying how much he appreciated it, how it was the only card he got for his birthday, and how glad he was that we were friends.

Sadly, I rarely send out birthday cards to people.

His note reminded me that even a tiny bit of thoughtfulness goes such a long way in this world. A card that costs 75 cents to make and send made a person's day. That's a pretty darn good investment.

Here's to being more thoughtful.
