Adventures at Old Stone Fort State Park
There’s a beautiful place where the Little Duck River and the Duck River flow together, merging the Tennessee Barrens grasslands (the start of the Midwest's prairies) on one side of the state and the Highland Rim’s hillier terrain on the other.
For thousand of years ancient native Americans came to the small part of land between the two areas for religious ceremonies and to enjoy the waterfalls on both rivers.
This little strip of land is now called Old Stone Fort Archaeological Park, and it’s one of Jackson and I’s favorite place to go hang out. There’s an ancient rock wall around the edges of the raised central area, but the part Jackson likes the most is the chucking stones into the Little Duck River.
